“Shippo Cloisonné is an old enamel technique perfected in Japan. It is a technique whereby fine silver strips are applied to copper to form a design. Within these lines, enamel in different colours is repeatedly poured, until the desired shade is achieved. It is then fired and finally polished many times. Hella has long held a desire to do “something” with this technique. It is a technique that is completely compatible with her way of working. Hella designs on the basis of a tradition, researches the history of a product, gives it a twist and thus creates something “new”. This is what makes her designs so interesting.
Hella has designed 5 enamel bowls for our sister company in Tokyo, Cibone. We are proud to be able to present these to you now.”
